My first Alterac Valley weekend
I promised Bonedead that I would generate some mindless tripe regarding my WoW experiences. Blame him, and remove that basked glory aura that enshrouds such wickedness.
This weekend I spent a lot of time waiting. I waited, and that I did. I fucking waited for Alterac Valley matches for hours on end. It’s about as exciting as rubbing your balls with some razorblades you shared with the local emo coke dealer who is HIV friendly. Anyway, I need the marks more than the coke. My egotistical greed was set on AV marks piling up in my inventory and let me buy some welfare epics. I’m saving up for pieces of information that make my other pieces of information obsolete. This one in particular.
If you play a Horde character in the Stormstrike battlegroup AV weekend is like winning a special bonus round or powerup like in some early Nintendo Games. The average wait time for a match was 45 minutes, the normal wait time is 90-120 minutes. All the Horde were clamoring about the shorter waiting times, and how much the Alliance how they saw this dwarf paladin breed with a gnome and they’re all inbred mongrels. Alliance do it too.
Farming 10k honor from straight in one day on AV weekend isn’t going to happen. I can thank those fucking Premades for that. All weekend long we were stomped by a Dalaran Premade. I joined queued up for five AV battlegrounds on Friday. Horde got raped. Eight matches on Saturday and I went up against a Dalaran premade seven times. We were raped again. What about Sunday? The same fucking premade from Dalaran over and over! And they won every damn time, with the same damn strategy. Zerg rush Galv, Relief Hut down five minutes later, and ten minutes later the AV is over and the Horde PUG is pointing fingers and yelling at each other.
There should be a rape hot line in WoW where GM’s intervened to join the losing team. “Hi this Dalaran premade just raped the shit out of us. Please assist us.” It was a forceful beat-down that it left my mind bruised and battered. I’m going to join the battered Horde group against Daralan premades. There is no way in hell I am going to complete 202 AV battleground matches on an AV weekend because of time constrained. At the end of it all, I won 5 AV matches.
What’s worse is that I like AV. It’s my favorite battleground. I hope your weekend went better, unless you are from Dalaran and racked up all that honor. haha. Bastrads, I would do AV premades too if I had the chance. I do want to comment on improving PvP and specific Battlegrounds, but I’m going to hold off until I extensively play the crap out of the changes in the upcoming 2.4 patch first. First it’s time to go play for an hour.
Who needs sleep.

I need sleep! Shit.
I think my WoW guy is Alliance on Stormstrike (is Anetheron in that battlegroup?), but you’re 70 right? Yeah, I’m only friggin 58, oh and I’m taking a long ass break. I’m curious, that dagger says it’s bought with EOTS marks, you don’t get those in AV do you? Or are you just trying to get honor?
I don’t remember how it is anymore. I know you could get a lot more honor than badges (leftovers after buying-wise) but did they change that so it evens out?
As for the Alliance winning AV all the time, when I played, maybe a couple months ago, it was the other way around. Horde was winning all the time until one dude from some alliance battlegroup went to all the forums and posted how to win as alliance and I guess we finally got it, and the bg layout finally made sense. Whatever. I wish I had the patience to be 70.
hahahhaahahaha. You won’t believe it. I, Horde lost to another AV Dalaran premade after I wrote that post. I’m such a sucker.
I need honor and AV marks for some other items. The dagger was my next buy. As for my track record in AV with pug versus pug, Horde won 90% of the time. I’m sure it goes back and forth. If you don’t premade at 70, you are just wasting your time. Premades dominate and you always run into one. If you don’t farm honor before then it will be difficult finding a premade to accept you with low resilience. I stayed in the level 60- 69 bracket until I had 40k honor banked.
Aren’t you 70 yet?
Oh hells no, I stopped playing for Savage 2, which I stopped playing for SWG. So, right now I’ve got a 71 Trader and a 31 Jedi. Pretty cool huh? lols
I can grind mindlessly only so long, and with WoW I can grind pvp mindlessly too. So once I’ve grinded mindlessly enough (whether it be pve or pvp) I get tired and quit teh game. Plus their expansion model is gay, I dont own TBC, don’t want to get 70 just to have to get 80. Eff that imho.
Wait, you leveled a 71 Trader and a 31 Jedi in 2 weeks? Or did you have them before you resubbed or is this your first time playing SWG?
If you like instances pick up TBC. :p
Well you see, I smoke a lot of pot, so, I really don’t know how long I’ve been playing. I do know how long I haven’t played though, and that’s over a month.
I played the game a little after release and a little before the NGE/CU/etc, which is the only reason I made a Trader, to be uber Weaponsmith man (which is no longer possible, yay!).
Anyways, I didn’t resub because I gave away my old account. I started with a trial leveling a Commando, made a Trader, couldn’t place extractors (due to trial account), and figured, what the hell, and bought a month. Promptly canceling my subscription immediately afterwards due to always forgetting to do that and getting charged an extra month.
But yeah, I’d say maybe 3 weeks playing, Xfire has clocked me at doing 20 hours in the past week and 84 total (84 is solely from this excursion into the SWG world). So, 84 hours of play time, level 71 and 31. The trader is easy to level, it’s just a macro grind (a.k.a click 4 times, wait, click 4 times, wait, repeat, ding, repeat, ding), you just need resources which, can be hard to acquire at low level. Some uber crafter of old gave me some of the best extractors to use, so, that definitely helped :p Some dude on my server actually sells trader grind packs for 10 million credits, using the macros he provides you can reach 90 in 4 hours. I’ve seen some people say they did it in 2, ridonkulous.
Come play SWG with me!
Funny, I was thinking of writing a AV post yesterday but didn’t get around to it. I’ve mostly be running AV with a Horde Shaman in the 51-60 bracket on Mug’Thol and loving it - but I’m up to 63 now on that alt so she’s not PvP viable yet. We dominated in that bracket. We rocked, I was awesome, it was great.
This weekend I played a 70 Horde Mage from Llane and it was horrific. Loss after loss after loss. The only thing that was good was no queue times. Less than 30 seconds to the next defeat. Just like you said, they’d rush south and it was all over before we knew what hit us.
What happened to this bracket? There was at least some amount of midfield fighting in the 50s bracket. This was just silly.
Tara! I’m pouring over your blog right now, and I’m seeing all this awesome content I missed and need to catch up on.
The level 70 bracket is a disaster, I would avoid it unless you really want to farm honor for an item. The problem is essential greed, so players will min/max the system to acquire as much honor as they can in the fastest shortest amount of time possible. Supposedly, Blizzard is going to match premades versus premades in 2.4. But, a lot of the time when I go up against another premade in AB and EOTS the other premade leaves the game. If they stay, it actually turns out to be a close and well fought out game.
we do work hard =P
=) that was my dalaran group you went up…=> well not mine but im in it. Dlaritan is the leader to this group =P

lol dalaran ftw
ROFL! After hordies find out the names of the premade leaders…It goes to the point where horde make a quick toon on our server just to cuss me out about our awesome premade. I get random pst’s 5mins after a match is over! XD
Evil Dalaranians! I haven’t seen a Dalaran premade in awhile, but I haven’t ran AV much for the past week. I’m sure they are still out there, crushing the horde and turning them into emos.
