I tried as hard as I could last night to fire up ole WoW and play, but it wasn't five minutes until I found myself bored as hell. Go here, kill this. Why? Because the "quest dispenser" told me too. Not because I really wanted to or because it would make a difference (they'll just respawn). Not because I would get phat lootz from the foozles I was killing. (Sure I'll make some cash or items when I return to the quest dispenser, but why?) So it's boring. Players clamor asking for something that will make their actions tangible. They want to feel like what they do makes a difference. I think EVE is one of the games that really allows players to do that with territories. "Protect your space or it won't be your's long." I just wish there was a game that allowed players to put their mark on the game a little more. Grinding quests to get to the "highest" level is boring. Especially since I realize there is no end to the game and there will always be some idiot in their mom's basement who has more time than I do and can kick my ass in PVP. It just isn't fun. I SO wish it was. RMT is a wicked beast. Like you, I was intensely against it. (Notice the word "was".) In areas where it makes no difference in the fundamentals of gameplay, I think I am for it. (EQ2 non-pvp shards) When it encroaches upon the PVP aspect of things, the waters get a little muddy. If I was a rich bitch, shitting out money by the Benjamins, I'm sure I'd be for it 100%. Why the hell not. I have the money I could burn. Fuck the homeless, sick and destitute. I've got a SHIP to buy! But when you put the money shitters and money-less on the same server it really tilts the way the game is played. Do I want to grind mining all day long, when I could just drop some cash for the ISK and have it instantly? I'd be laughing my ass off at the poor sap mining as I swoop in destroying his ass. Free minerals! You are right. (How bout that as a stroke to your coc... I mean ego.) RMT are not going away. E V E R! So what can you do? I've been tempted to give it a whirl now and then, but I just have been too poor and lazy to really do it. I could spend the money on porn or something... wait internetz have that for free. I guess I'm just more concerned at my lack of desire to play the endless rat race that are the MMO(G)s. What's the fucking point anymore if you really can't accomplish anything. YAY I'm level 70... now what? With all the games out there, you'd think someone would come up with something quasi-meaningful to play. I sit here with EQ2 and WoW installed and cringe at the thought of playing again. I have friends playing both games but even their friendships are hard to justify playing a game I no longer think is fun. What. Is. The. Fucking. Point.
