The EVE client will run on 10.4.9 or later, it should be running better, but I haven't extensively tested it under Leopoard. You can always download the trial for free.

https://secure.eve-online.com/ft/?aid=100972&nogreet=1 (get a free trial key)

If you have anymore questions just ask or shoot me an e-mail. :)

I have a Macbook Pro 17"/2.6GHz/4GB/200GB HD running Leopard. I found this thread because I read in MacWorld about EVE. I'm not an online gamer but have been lurking around in search of a good game to get started. First of all the MacWorld article indicated EVE did not run on Macbooks. I assume from the above comments that didn't include MBP. I don't have bootcamp configured on my laptop. I use VMware. So, I'm sure I will have to run it under Leopard. I haven't noticed any posters that have used EVE on Leopard. Any info will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

When it comes to the shareware battle I think Macs win hands down. Although, I don't go out of my way hunting for PC shareware, and my bro-in-law is a huge mac fanboi and points out all these excellent shareware apps that I'd love to use. The top three, I wanted years ago are Scrivener, (there's another one to help you scrape web content and organize it -- saw it on lifehacker), and this other program that whips out really slick graphs and charts I can't remember the name... Yea, my memory isn't so great. Darren Rowse (problogger) uses the program. I don't know if I would give up my windows machine, but I do miss tinkering with OS X. It's more about the freedom of building and repairing my hardware with ease than the operating system. I could always get my own Macbook Pro, that would be best, someday... sigh. haha.

Good to be back. I haven't had so much time for following blogs as I'd like lately, but I'm hopefully getting back to that!

I don't have the huge philosophical take on OS that most folks do. I've used Macs, Linux, and Windows successfully. But I can't help noting that while I use Windows constantly now because it runs all my favorite games, it feels rather like slamming my head against a wall repeatedly in the process. Whereas using a Mac, even if the software tends to cost more and there isn't nearly as much of it, is just so smooth & reliable. If Macs ran all the software I need I'd never touch Windows again. As it is... well, I just keep my backups up-to-date!

Hey, Heather! Great to hear from you again. I think EVE runs a little better in bootcamp, but it's still nice to be able to nuke that evil partition. ;) The above Macbook pro isn't my own, but after seeing Leopard in action, I'll probably have to get one after I sell my kidney.

We have a new iMac on order for our daughter, but I will have to borrow it to try out EVE. (And maybe WoW.)

It will be the most powerful CPU in the house until it comes time to upgrade my own machine. I wonder if I will be able to run two clients to do my mine and haul routine?

Very cool!! My husband just downloaded this... now he can run EVE on either partition of his macbook pro, making skill changes much easier to do at will. ;) So far I've been running it on the windows bootcamp side of my macbook pro. I do wish more games ran on mac so I could avoid windows. I never had a fraction of these crashes, corruptions, and sundry other problems when using macs. But every time I've used windows... bleh.
