Warhammer Woes: Beta Closing for 2 Months

Whuddya know, more bad news for Warhammer. Earlier today, the big bad notification from EAMythic went out to all testers and TenTonHammer used their batphone to confirm the beta sauce is on hold.

Anyone ever see anything like this before? I haven’t or my brain databases fail me. Changes and small implementations to the game are cited as the reason for the closure, but that’s why a closed beta exists, for these oh so very tiny (uh-huh) changes to be patched and implemented - not open beta, so I’m baffled at the full complete, “Get off my beta lawns boys and girls until I say you can come back over!”

Something else is going on with Warhammer, time to bust out those tin foil hats people. Adjust it and tilt your head to the right, yes, tune in with me. Is Warhammer just your average mmog and in need of some pizzazz? I don’t know anyone in the beta, so, but I don’t see the same hype as I did with World of Warcraft. Not a fair comparison though since I’m not in the Warhammer beta, yet, yet…. Yo, Paul Barnett, help a brotha out? I’m still waiting, and lying, I mean sprucing up my dxdiag file every other week with new innovative alien video technology. This is bad news for all those who aren’t in the beta. At least those in the beta will get back in. We on the other hand get to wait for another two months to start waiting again. Thanks!

The other slight tinge making the Warhammer Woes round is the community management shake-up, no one wants to manage Warhammer is that it? Two great community managers gone in less than a year, leaving that department in smoldering ruins. EAMythic replaced them with nubs, one happens to be the old Vanguard forum moderator with not much experience in managing anything - yea, that’s a great replacement! Oh, and don’t expect Warhammer to release next fall or late summer, which is fine, who doesn’t want Warhammer to be a great mmog besides the guys at Blizzard.

Update:

We are very proud to have reached this point in development. Beta has been going very well and the testing community is extremely active. Excitement around the game continues to grow and the team is looking forward to enhancing many features already in the game as well as continuing to add new features to an already great game.

Based on player feedback, our own observations and our current schedule, we have set the following major development goals:

* Improve open field skirmishes and battlefield objectives with major enhancements.
* Provide players with even more options to customize their character both through their abilities and visual appearance.
* Continue to enhance Public Quests and the PQ System.
* Prepare the elves for their release into the world!

When the beta reopens, we look forward to welcoming back all of our current testers, as well as many new faces. Shortly after re-opening the doors, we will be inviting the first wave of guilds into the beta to really get things rolling.

Still a lot to do, it makes more sense. Woe is me.
