Shit, it's Thursday already. I better write something relevant. I remember a bughunter from Amber's site, I assume that is you. It has been awhile - I'm a terrible stalker.

I'm not keen on mining either, but I need the space golds. I was wondering if ratting is a viable way to make 100 million or so isk in a few weeks?

Thanks for stopping by and commenting, nice to see you branching away from Amber Night’s cruel clutch.

I thought I first came here from Lum's place, but I don't remember (The only thing I go to Amber's sight for anymore is the links in her blogroll).

What ship did you fit out before calling it?

I played EvE for about 2 months and change. After selling a time card the first thing I did was buy and fit a Vexor (I liked the idea of drones). Messed around with that for a while, then headed for the battleship skill. So in less than 3 months I had a Domi flying around, ratting in low sec. Certainly not kitted to the hilt, nor did I have the skills for much tech 2 except the drones. I'm happy I to have skipped months of mining to be able to afford having fun in a battleship. Another plus is that you aren't so worried about getting blown up, when you can replace anything you have, pretty easy.

But, but... The crystal balls and palm readings, all for naught! Solo, alone, in space, with the rocks - is that your style of play? Space traveling for readers, most excellent. :) Thanks for your second comment, since I forgot to thank you for the first one.

It has crossed my mind, 180 million isk is frequently bandied as the norm - nice chunk of change and very tempting considering... 8 long inactive months, I log on and open my wallet, expecting some type of bond (hah-hah, right!) to kick in with a fair return investment to get me on my way, I was met with the cold harsh reality, I only had 70k to my name. Luckily, my friend was kind enough to send me five million, it won't last very long, but I was thankful that I could actually buy some skill books.

What ship did you fit out before calling it?

I never like to predict where my interests will lie in the future, but for the moment, I'm just enjoying the Eve experience. I enjoyed Warcraft for more than two years, but yeah, it got boring. I still enjoy lotro, but only for a relaxing break now and then, not regularly. What I like about eve so far is that I can decide for myself what I want to do and what sort of empire I want to build. Since I'm not a 'typical' gamer, whatever that is, and games are rarely tailored to my style of play, that's pretty compelling!

No matter how you feel about RMT, go ahead and buy a couple extra time cards and sell them for ISK. It will help you skip "the suck" and have fun instead. You'll eventually wonder where the game part is anyway (I only lasted a couple months), but having a few extra ISK makes it less risky and more enjoyable. You would have spent the same amount of cash spending 2 months mining rocks to be able to afford decent ships as if you just buy the damn credits in the first place.

After a couple of months it will start to take more and more time to setup, and you spend less and less time pew pewing. By then you'll be ready to boom boom in the caribbean as a pirate instead.
