Starcraft MMORPG, eventually?
I’m sure you haven’t heard the big news yet! Once again, if you haven’t heard it elsewhere, you really need to open your mind to some new sites - Starcraft 2 will be a real-time-strategy game that will be played over Battlenet - so more of the familiar, only ten years later with a new engine, new units, and shinier graphics with a single player campaign that picks up where Brood War left off. Maybe in another ten years there will be a Starcraft mmorpg, I don’t think it will be World of Warcraft II, considering the original will easily have strong legs for another ten years and a Starcraft mmorpg would do better than a Diablo one and probably be more accepted in South Korea than World of Warcraft, which isn’t a crazy success there. So yea, I’m still asking myself - what the heck is Blizzard working on? Even after Starcraft 2, the rts clone, was announced, I didn’t stop wondering what the hell are you guys working on, dammit!
I would like to play a new IP from Blizzard, I’m not sure what genre/setting it should be, Wild Wild West western sci-fi with crazy guns and demon cock covered in thorns flying around? I don’t see it happening, except in Second Life maybe. But Blizzard, you know they got some of the best franchises in this vortex we call a universe and they could sequel everything until sharks went around and jet packs biting everyone’s faces off and not develop anything original - at least the shark population wouldn’t be in jeopardy. Blizzard’s mantra is to sequel what they know, one reason top creative talent left Blizzard to work on their own ideas and you know, actually do this design thing people talk about.
If you like some rts like I do, here are some videos to gawk at. Looking good, Protos look overpowered.
Hell, it’s about time

Well a month ago under blizzard job site they where looking for programers to help make an engine for a next-gen MMO. Since building an Engine is close to one of the first steps i don’t see that MMO coming out for 4 or 5 years. So ya not really sure what there working on after Starcraft 2
i think it will happen, in like 3-4 years, untill then WOW is gona be boring even for new mmog players, so they will need another COW, but i would love a starcraft mmog, more then anything.
