LOTRO’s crummy icon art
We gaze upon it, we pull on the veins connecting to our characters triggering pummeling blows or forming magical sparkles in the air, how can you not like sparkles. I wonder if the talented artists creating eMiddle Earth™ were so busy making us drool over the world that they let a bunch of retarded monkeys draw up the game icons with crayons. While it’s true I can’t do better - I’m skilled in pooping in socks and flinging them around the room, which comes in handy when I want to give someone a black eye - anyone else who plays/played the beta think the icon art is lackluster?
With a rumored 10 million dollar development budget, I wonder how much got put into the user interface. Yea, there going to patch in some improved user interface functionality after release, that’s like telling me to eat half a cake without the frosting first then adding it later and the frosting will still be bad. Out of all the mmogs I have played, I dislike lotro’s icons the most. Did Turbine cut, copy, and past some AC2 icons to save money for hairy hobbit feet? I think I remember those looking shitty too, perhaps it’s the same artist/designer. Sorry mang, you draw as good as I write - not very good, double zinger. Here’s an icon comparison I pilfered from Adamar Hammerfel of Ascension.

All solid points that I mostly agree with, I’m shallow - I want new icons.

Nice find on the comparison chart. I found it difficult after gaining new skills to figure out where I put them on the hotbar. Over time it doesn’t matter as I usually train myself to a certain keyset, but trying to pick up play styles with muddy icons is frustrating.
It just shows you that Turbine is lieing through their teeth that LotRO; “will be one of the most polished MMORPGs at launch, ever!” Buahahaha.
All the more reasons that UI’s should be custimizable ala World of Warcrafts. I know WoW wasn’t the first, but it is the easiest comparison to make.
They hurts us, my eyes bleed. I also get a kick out of that flash graphic at the top of the wold tour page, move your date forward and the number gets higher. The potato loving hobbits lie to us.
