Vanguard Specs
Vanguard is available for pre-order and the servers are live and available for play. Select retailers (Amazon, EBGames, Direc2Drive) will provide you with an early-access key giving you a few days head start. If you are considering a pre-order or picking it up on release in just a few days be sure to check out your computer specifications and contemplate some upgrades. Research your components and find out if you need a critical upgrade. For example: If you have a decent video, but only 1gb of ram, I suggest upgrading your ram to 2gb before playing the game. It will make your playing experience that much better.
Do not attempt to play Vanguard with a computer running on their suggested minimum specs. I played Vanguard since beta 2 and if you really want suitable performance my recommendations is a 7900gt or x1950pro along with 2gb ram at the very least. Even though older and mid-range cards like the x850xt or 7600gt along with 1gb ram can run the game performance will strangle most of those computers unless you play on the highest performance setting; even after applying Mort’s tweaks. Some people report miracles by applying some of those tweaks, but I find their results hard to believe after all my own trial and error on some “lower end systems!” If you are thinking about playing Vanguard but won’t be able to upgrade at this time, waiting is the better option.

I have all those Recommended specs and more, and I still couldn’t play at any higher settings then ‘Balanced’ during Beta.
I suggest you go for the unwritten specs:
Alien Technology Required
I just ordered a new gaming desktop that meets the recommended specs. While I haven’t followed the development of Vanguard and know very little about it, I do know from reading the mmo blogosphere that it’s a hardcore mmorpg. Coming from games like EQOA and FFXI, hardcore mmorpgs really appeal to me. Things like steep levelling curves, very long character progression and forced grouping are what I always loved about mmorpgs. Spending so much time on one character, in one guild, is what really creates the close knit communities for me. Vanguard looks like it’s going to have everything I want in a mmorpg, and it’s new, fresh content and a fresh inflow of new players which just makes it better.
I’ll continue to read more reviews and experiences now that the final product has been released before I do pick up the game, I hope you keep posting more on the game, this blog is definitely on my watchlist.
