Shadowbane, Free-for-all

Shadowbane has ganked the monthly fee and is now going with a free-for-all payset for any players who wish to enter the bane’s foray.

There will be a more in-depth announcement coming soon but, in the meanwhile, I wanted to let our community know that this is not an error. Existing users can now open up their Account Manager and their accounts will now be working, allowing them to play Shadowbane for free! This does include those who had previously canceled accounts!

In addition, those who wish to try out Shadowbane for the first time will also be able to. All you have to do is create a new ubi.com account and then click on Add a Subscription, and you will have free access to the lands of Aerynth! This is not a Free-Trial subscription and it will not run out in 15-days. This is completely free!

If you are looking for a place to download the Shadowbane client, you can get it from FilePlanet by clicking here for the PC version, and here for the Mac version! While these version are labeled for the “Free Trial”, they are full versions of the game client and any active accounts can be used to play using them.

Cheap thrills, this is great news. I’m not going to pay a monhtly fee to play or even try out Shadowbane, I have other mmos I would rather shell out cash for and play that are constantly sustaining positive hype, mmos like Eve and even EverQuest II.

Shadowbane is dead, has been for a long time, attracting new customers is most likely extremely difficult with the behemoths reigning supreme, even if Shadowbane offers pvp differences not implemented in other mmos they needed to take worthwhile action, it’s about time too. I’m not sure how Shadowbane will make money, but there are various models they could implement and most likely sustain profit if the eyeballs are there.

I followed Shadowbane for several years before it actually hit desktops because I only had a mac at the time and there isn’t very many hybrid mmos available for mac users, after release, most of the game’s promise was completely killed off by server issues, it never really did recover very well after that, but the pvp did seem interesting and the game still had some great lore and unique classes. I’ll revisit soon, most likely the middle of next month, anyone is welcome to join my side for some Shadowbane carnage, maybe we will last for more than a few weeks.
